Platform >ufw goes in that direction One preset that I would love is "maximum privacy while user initiated outbound still works". So my browser would work because I initiated it, but everything OSX or apps do in the background are blocked. Automatic updates are blocked? Good! Network time sync is blocked? Fine by me. Only what I initiate gets through. Can you do that as a preset please? TCPBlock is by far the lightest application based firewall available for mac and is absolutely free. It also monitors and protects both inbound and outbound traffic on your mac and can prevent certain applications from opening network connections to unknown servers while you are online. Little Snitch will not stop showing confirmation messages for certain programs that make continuous use of the Internet, so you'll need to authorize their connection from all ports in order to use Little Snitch at the same time as those applications. Radio Silence is a tiny firewall that lets you block any application from accessing the internet. It is designed for people who are not interested in configuring traditional firewalls. Radio Silence supports OS X Yosemite, Mavericks, Mountain Lion, Lion, and Snow Leopard. It only takes a few seconds to install. Here is how to delete Little Snitch for Mac, using its own uninstaller: 10.11(El Capitan), 10.12 (MacOS Sierra), 10.13 (MacOS High Sierra) Price: Radio Silence costs around $9 and comes with a testing trial of 30 days. You get your money back if it doesn’t meet your expectations. There’s also a 24-hour free trial available for those who want to test this software’s limits in a single stretch. The recommended operation mode for Little Snitch is “Silent Mode – Allow Connections.” This lets you watch the traffic going across the transom without actively interfering with any of it. The other options: “Silent Mode – Deny Connections” and “Alert Mode” will quickly grind everyday internet activity to a halt. PS: yes, I have restarted computer, reinstalling apps, etc. High Sierra was installed from scratch - clean install, not update. Figure 2.
